GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME

The purpose of this blog is for basketball fans to voice their opinion as to who was the best to ever do it. Michael Jordan is definately at the very top of my list, but with players like Majic Johnson, George Gervin, Julius Erving, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird,  etc...etc.... It's kinda tough for me to choose, but I still think the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) award Goes to MJ. Tell me what YOU think sportsfans!!  And please people, KEEP IT CLEAN!!

GREATEST OF ALL TIME....

If I had to start a team and needed someone to build around, it would be Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  If I wanted a player that could do just about everything it would be Michael Jordan.

Old school, have to go with my man Jerry West.

GREATEST OF ALL TIME....

Nothing Fancy,But he played with the best that his day had to offer and HE came up with 9 world Championships and one more as head coach.

He was ONE of the smartest and best Defensive players that ever lived!!

GREATEST OF ALL TIME....

Great idea for a blog as there is no single correct answer(except mine, of course!!!!) I think that the Magic man is the greatest player of all time for making his teammates better, but I'm not going to vote for him.  Having the cast of offensive talents around you that he did  has to help your assist totals(Worthy, Kareem, Byron Scott, McAdoo, Michael Cooper, etc.) and being as stylish as he was certainly helps. Those finals against Bird and the Celts and the Pistons Bad Boys were classic. I would say his Game 7 performance in the Finals his Rookie year( he was only 20 at the time) where he played center because Kareem was hurt and hung 40+ pts, 12-14 rbds, and 7 assists on the 76rs and Doc as my greatest clutch one game performance. Instead, before Bong gets here and confuses everybody with his cavalcade of staggering statistics, I'm going to make my choice based on the ultimate statistic, Championships won. Cast my vote(and remember, it's the only correct one) for:

BILL RUSSELL!!

The penultimate winner and team player. Won two NCAA championships at SAN FRANSISCO(how many have they won since?) Won 11 NBA championships in 13 seasons as a player and player/coach. Completely unselfish on the court, completely obsessed with willing his team to win, whether it was by blocking a shot, getting 25 rebounds, making the crunch time basket (The first lob pass I remember seeing was a KC Jones inbounds pass to Russel for a game winning dunk with less than a second to go to beat the Knicks or 76rs in the Eastern conf finals. I could be completely wrong about the opponent or round of playoff, but I still have such a vivid memory of watching that game in 1968 on my family's first color TV!!) I'm sure my nominee is going to finish far below modern day players because you had to actually WATCH Russell play to fully appreciate his effect on every game he played in. Besides, I like thinking outside the box.

GREATEST OF ALL TIME....

Interesting outlook people....  I love all the different points of view....  Bill Russell was one of the best to ever do it indeed, but my man MJ changed the whole perspective of the game. Another game-changer would have to be Wilt Chamberlain, oh and Darryl Dawkins. Dawkins broke 2 backboards while dunking in the 80's, spawning the breakaway rim!
